New format for 2010
Colorado Mountain Events will produce the Grand Tasting event and the opening reception for the weekend. We have solicited the participation of the local restaurant and culinary community to produce a variety and format of food and wine events – wine seminars, culinary demonstrations, wine dinners, or whatever creative format they can develop. These are the individuals that wine distributors work with nearly every day – these events can work to enhance these relationships.
The restaurants will be responsible for identifying these opportunities and producing these events, with their businesses retaining 100 percent of sales. Our role as festival producers includes cultivating ideas for events with them, creating a unified marketing effort to position this one weekend as the “food and wine weekend” and matching them with interested wineries that are committed to the Grand Tasting event.
Chef Dinners: The Chef Dinners feature a roster of award-winning chefs who each will create an intimate dinner in a private home. The fundraising events will allow a small number of guests to enjoy a masterfully prepared multi-course dinner paired with some of the finest wines in the world. Seats to the Chef's Dinners are anticipated to be between $100 and $200 per person. If your winery or distributorship is interested in being the wine purveyor for any of these events, please contact Renee Ortiz at 303-570-4482.
Come see why Crested Butte was named one of Outside Magazine's Best Towns in 2008, Sunset's Top Dream Towns, and Travel + Leisure's One of America's Best Ski Towns. Known as one of Colorado's “true” ski towns, its charming ambiance and friendly people go hand in hand with the indescribable beauty of the area and the myriad of summer activities. Crested Butte has long been one of Colorado's best-kept secrets.
About the beneficiary: The Grand Tasting benefits the Crested Butte Land Trust (CBLT). The CBLT strives to keep the valley unique for the visitors and residents alike who are captivated by the beauty of the area's rich and diverse landscape that includes rivers and mountain streams, rolling hay meadows, and towering peaks blanketed by alpine forests. Too many of Colorado's ski area valleys have lost their ranches, vistas and wildlife habitat. CBLT believes open space has the unique ability to benefit everyone, and provides an economic value for the community which is far reaching and long lasting. The more than 5,000 acres CBLT has preserved protect crucial wetlands, wildlife habitats, unrivaled views, recreational opportunities and the valley's ranching heritage.
